Sally O’Neil, also known as The Fit Foodie (@thefitfoodieblog) and her pal Reece (@herbnerdreece) recently had a Travelshoot experience in New York City. We caught up with her to chat about her Travelshoot experience and how she maintains a healthy lifestyle while travelling. Check out what Sally had to say below!
Favourite travel destination and why?
Can I say NYC?! The love the cool vibes of the Lower East Side - Greenwich Village, Soho, Noho, East Village and NoLita have gorgeous boutiques, parks, cafes, and the most beautiful brownstone houses.
What’s your favourite thing about New York City?
The juxtaposition of the parks and the skyscrapers - you can hang out in nature, smack bang in the middle of a metropolis.
How do you maintain a healthy lifestyle while travelling?
I always do a bit of instagram stalking of popular health cafes and eateries before i go somewhere. Not only is it great for content, but it keeps me well fuelled too. I also try to order fresh, seasonal and local produce - which is always the tastiest. For exercise, I walk everywhere when i’m travelling - I find secret, beautiful corers of the city and get lost - thats the best bit.
What’s your favourite ‘cheat/unhealthy’ meal in New York?
The vegan choc-chip cookies at By Chloe. Gooey, sugary heaven!
What’s the next destination on your travel wish list?
I have a lot of travel coming up - UK, Paris, South Africa, Bali and Tokyo in the next 6 months or so, but the next on the list is Canada for sure. I’d love to see the maple leaves change colour in the fall and spend some time in the national parks.
What did you think of your Travelshoot experience, and why do you think travel memories are important to preserve?
I loved my Travelshoot experience. Fernandez made me feel super comfortable - I’m usually being the camera so I always feel a bit awkward. He was really accomodating with the kind of images I was looking for and in one hour took heaps of different images.I was lucky enough to hang with a friend in NYC and wanted to preserve our giggles together. There’s nothing like capturing a candid moment perfectly.
