The best kind of mother-daughter trip

Girls' trips are awesome, but what about spending quality time with your mum? Allana embarked on an epic mother-daughter getaway to Japan, and shares her perspective on how travelling together has strengthened their bond. Why not think about the places that are most meaningful to you and your mum, and get planning. We promise it will be an experience you’ll never forget.

Please tell us a bit about yourself and your Mum.

My mum and I are best friends and we share our love of travel. I absolutely enjoy travelling with her – it’s always so easy and most importantly, special, travelling and getting to experience a lot of once in a lifetime adventures with each another.

Tell us a bit about your holiday, and why you went to Japan?

Our holiday to Japan was mainly about ticking off our biggest bucket list experiences. We choose to travel during winter so were able to go see the world-famous Snow Monkeys in Yudanaka Shibu Onsen, a traditional village where the snow monkeys bathe in natural hot springs. There were so many other things we wanted to explore in Japan so we decided to spend two weeks there. This is actually one of the main reasons why we chose to do Travelshoot in both Kyoto and Tokyo.

How did you find the Travelshoot experience?

We were both very nervous about our Travelshoot as we had never done a 'photoshoot' before so we didn't know what to expect. Our photographers were so lovely and made us feel at ease and we really enjoyed the experience and now we have some lovely photos together.

Why did you think it was important to capture holiday memories?

Travelshoot helped us to capture memories in photos that are more than just a 'posed' photo together. There were photos of my mum and I sharing a laugh together, experiencing Shibuya crossing for the first time, or just enjoying the moment in a beautiful area of the city. The photos captured our relationship and our enjoyment of being in Japan together, which is why we think it is so important to capture these memories through photos.
