New York: A Mother-Daughter trip that she'll remember forever!

Tell us about your mum and yourself?
I am a travel agent so I travel all of the time, and it was Mum’s first big overseas holiday so I wanted to make it extra special as she has always given us kids everything.

How did you choose your getaway destination this time around?
I was sitting at work one day and found a great special to New York, book some seats, rung Mum and said would you like to go to New York one day, she said ‘I would love to do that, why?’ She obviously knew I was at work and up to something, I said ‘can you get leave on these dates as I’ve just booked us some seats.’ She was ecstatic. I think she packed her bag two months before we left.

Why did you decide to arrange a photoshoot?
I didn’t tell Mum I had booked this, I organised it as a surprise and that morning after doing something off her bucket list (a carriage ride in Central Park) we walked around the corner and meet our amazing photographer. It was the perfect opportunity mum was on cloud nine as the photos show, and now I have beautiful photos to keep forever which aren’t just your standard selfie pics.

Talk us through your Travelshoot experience and how it all went down! What were your favourite parts?
Mum was a little nervous for the first couple of shots but our photographer kept everything so nice and casual. We were laughing and having a great time within a few minutes, and the photos really capture that. We didn’t have to sit and pose as such, we just walked across roads or sat chatting and the photos show the bond we share, the absolute love we have for each other, and best of all they are beautiful photos we will be able to cherish for years to come - a constant reminder of how special this trip was.

What would be your advice to others thinking about booking a shoot?
Don’t hesitate, it’s the best way to capture the city you’re in, and a great keepsake from a fantastic holiday and most of all it is so much fun.

And finally, what’s your favourite shot from your Travelshoot? Why do you love it?

It’s hard to narrow it down – I have two favourites. I love the photo where we’re crossing the street with a school bus, and taxi behind us and we are just looking at each other and both have smiles ear-to-ear as we were having the best time. I also really love all of the pictures on the steps outside the apartment sitting because we just sat there chatting away while the photos were being taken and it shows just how happy we both were which is the way the trip was from beginning to end.
