When travelling, a smart phone is everyones best friend. It's your camera, bank, point of communications, form of entertainment, and key source for finding travel information. We've spoken to some of our well travelled friends any they shared their favourite 'go-to' apps for when they're abroad! Check them out below!
1. VSCO cam
Your first point of call to edit that photo of you eating a croissant under the Eiffel Tower. VSCO cam has a range of free presets to edit your photos with, or the option to manually adjust all the photo settings yourself. The app is similar to using Adobe Lightroom, and there is the option to purchase other series of presets. From moody black and white filters, to exposed and saturated film, VSCO have a preset for everyone.
2. Maps.me
Maps.me is an offline maps app for your smartphone. Unlike other map applications, Maps.me encourages you to download the country/city map before you arrive, ready for you to use offline when you arrive. This map reduces international data use, and the hassle of finding wifi; using your phones GPS to guide you.
3. Skyscanner
Add Skyscanner to your app collection! Enter your dates and locations and Skyscanner will find the best flights, hotels, or even cars to hire for you. Fast and effective, this app is perfect for last minute bookings if you can’t find yourself a computer to make your bookings.
4. Tripadvisor
Ideal for those evenings when you are finally in Phuket, but have no idea what to do. Type in your location and Tripadvisor can tell you the most popular restaurants, cafes and things to do, as well as how to get there. The app can also assist in flight and hotel booking.
5. iTranslate
iTranslate is an offline translation app which allows travelers to read, speak and write in 90 languages. iTranslate is simple to use and super handy for when you are travelling in a country that speaks another language.
