What do Burleigh Brewing, the Taj Mahal & Byron Bay have in common?

For starters Gold Coast politician, Glenn Tozer loves all three! Glenn, his wife Jude and 3 boys recently had a Travelshoot experience in Byron Bay. We caught up with him to see what he thought about Travelshoot and asked him about his favourite city in the world, the Gold Coast! Check out what he said below!

If you could tell someone one thing about Travelshoot what would it be?

Setting aside an hour of my holiday time to have a professional photographer capture a few moments with the family I love is a super idea. Travelshoot brings that idea to life, no matter where I go in the world.

Why do you think it’s important to preserve travel memories?

We take the odd selfie when we’re at an important event, or capture moments of landscapes or buildings at the places we visit, but there’s something special about hanging a picture on the wall of an exceptional travel memory with your loved ones in it. Remembering happy times in that way makes our home feel like home and reminds how important it is to get out into the world.

Why do you love the Gold Coast?

It is a rare city that combines 57kms of beautiful white beaches, only 30 minutes drive to World Heritage listed biodiversity areas, with a vibrant live music scene and fantastic family theme parks. Best. City. Ever.

What do you and your kids love doing together on the Gold Coast?

My three young sons love going to the beach and to the many local playgrounds with my wife, Jude, and I. There’s so many great parks in this city. As locals we visit the theme parks as well which makes us feel like we’re on holidays on any given weekend.

For a new visitor to the Gold coast can you give us one piece of local knowledge or tip about the Gold Coast?

When I’m not hanging out with my kids, Jude and I love live music and many visitors don’t know there are a bunch of great music venues throughout the city and vibrant live music scene. In Currumbin, there’s soundlounge and the Dust Temple; Burleigh Brewing Co’s Brewhouse regularly put on great acts; up in Helensvale there’s the NightQuarter; the Marketta in Miami, and the Wallaby Hotel and Morsels in Mudgeeraba have live music regularly. When you know the places to go, and what’s on, it’s an awesome city for music. Blank magazine has a tops gig guide each month.

Not including the Gold Coast where is your favourite place to travel to and why?

I’ve travelled all around the world and seen some amazing things in amazing places. Dawn at the Taj Mahal, storms over the North Atlantic off the Isle of Skye, horseriding at the Pyramids of Giza, College basketball at Madison Square Garden. Moments of beauty and excitement can be found in so many places. But other than the Gold Coast my favourite is probably the Woodford Folk Festival in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The combination of great music, a beautiful hillside setting, yummy food, and a sense of wonderful community with people I love make for the best places to travel to, and for me, Woodford has this sewn up.
