Rachel & Rohans' Wedding
How did you and Rachel meet?
We both met a number of years ago through mutual friends. It wasn’t until later (with some helpful prompting and eventual intervention from our mutual friends) that we finally went out on a date.
How long have you been together?
How long we have been together is a point of debate. Rach actually asked me out first, but claims that it was a non-date date, so doesn’t count. I however contend that it was a date. Lots of flirting occurred on a romantic dinner for two…it was a date!
How did you (or Rachel) propose?
I was able to create a day full of surprises for Rachel! We were driving from Sydney to Tweed Heads to visit friends, but instead I drove to Rose Bay. When she asked what was going on I told her I was taking her to a surprise lunch before heading north, insinuating it was at one of the restaurants at the Rose Bay marina. I walked her down towards the cafe, but instead a gentleman was waiting there who escorted us onto a small boat, and drove us to a nearby sea plane.
Rach was looking at me as we boarded and asking what was going on. I may have lead her to believe that it was just a scenic flight around Sydney Harbour before lunch, until the pilot discussed dropping us at Berowra Waters.
We landed at the isolated restaurant, Berowra Waters Inn, only accessible by boat or sea plane. Between courses we went for a walk where I proposed, and Rachel said yes. I think she was still in shock over the whole experience.
After the excitement of the proposal, text messages to family and friends, and we finished the final course, we were taken back to Rose Bay. I then drove Rachel to a wine bar where I had arranged a number of our family and closest friends to be there waiting as another surprise for Rachel. Even our friend from Tweed Heads had flown down to be there as one last surprise for Rachel.
Why did you two choose to elope/have a destination wedding?
When writing down our initial guest list, we realised that the list was going to be huge! But we both wanted our wedding day to be relaxed and low-key, without costing us our life savings. We wanted to able to spend time with our closest friends and immediate family beforehand rather than only being able to talk to them for a few minutes at the reception.
The more we looked into a destination wedding, the more we fell in love with the idea. Theidea of getting away from it all to celebrate our wedding was very appealing. In comparing a destination wedding with a wedding in Sydney, there was just no comparison.
Why did you choose Fiji?
We chose Fiji as the location for our wedding as it was still reasonably close to Australia and more easily accessible for family and friends who were taking time off work to come. We eventually settled on Mana Island off the coast of Fiji. It was just amazing and we loved every moment on the island.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
The relaxed atmosphere! We loved every moment of our wedding day. From the beautiful weather and stunning backdrop, to the incredible setup that the staff at Mana Island Resort created for us. Everything was taken care of and everyone went above and beyond to ensure that we did not have to worry about a single thing on the day.
The location of the wedding was just stunning, and the photos look amazing! Everyone had an amazing day.
It was fantastic not having to rush on the day, and only being able to spend a short time with each of the guests. By choosing a destination wedding we were able to relax and enjoy the week leading up to the wedding relaxing on the beach with all our guests, building up to the main celebration on the wedding day. Everything was taken care of for us by the staff. We didn’t have to worry about anything.
Where did you go on your Honeymoon?
A few days after our wedding, Rachel and I left Fiji and flew to Europe for our honeymoon. We spent 7 weeks in Europe, first as part of a tour around Central Europe, followed by several weeks travelling through Croatia and Italy by ourselves. On the way home we stopped over in Dubai for 3 days also.
It was an amazing honeymoon and we loved every moment. It was filled with so many memories and experiences that we will cherish for a lifetime.
Why did you choose the Travelshoot wedding package?
We chose the Travelshoot wedding package as it had been recommended to us through Flight Centre.
Before making a decision though we researched Travelshoot, the photographer Travelshoot recommended, as well as many other potential photographers in Fiji.
We chose Travelshoot to photograph our wedding as the portfolios of their photographers were amazing! Our photographer had an amazing eye for detail and his portfolio showed a style that we loved. We were wanting something relaxed and photos that captured moments rather than poses. The price quoted was also the best value compared to other quotes we were given. At the end of our wedding, Travelshoot also gave us so much more than any other photographer was willing to provide.
What did you think of your Travelshoot experience?
Our experience working with Travelshoot has been amazing, from the start to end. It was a very simple and easy process to confirm our booking prior to the wedding. It also gave us confidence knowing we had a reputable Australian business facilitating the whole process for us!
Our photographer on the day, was incredible. He was so friendly, funny and personable. It was like having a friend there with us the whole day. During the wedding ceremony on the beach he was so discrete taking the photos. While taking photos after the wedding he made the whole process a lot of fun for Rachel and I. It was great having someone so amazing who also had such an incredible eye for detail.
The final photographs that we received looked stunning and were better than anything we had hoped for. We received the photographs so quickly also! I couldn’t believe how fast they were in delivering our photos!
Thank you so much Travelshoot for making our day that much more relaxed and fun, and providing us with such incredible photographs that we will be able to cherish always.
